Apache Etch Middleware

Apache Etch is an open source project hosted by the Apache Software Foundation. The Etch project is a cross-platform, language- and transport-independent framework for building and consuming efficient RPC-like network services in a resource limited and heterogeneous environment.

The Etch toolset includes a network service description language, a compiler for code generation, and binding libraries for a variety of programming languages such as C, C++, C# and Java.

Further information such as community details, documentation, presentations and videos can be found on the Apache Etch website. Get involved!

Automotive use

The Apache Etch framework is the fundamental communication protocol used for BMW Apps. It connects smart phones and the car's head unit and provides an efficient, fully-bidirectional message based communication channel.
